about

In May, I graduated from Boston University’s College of Communication with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, and am seeking opportunities in journalism and media relations in a sports-related environment.

I have experience covering sports at the high school, collegiate and professional level for both print and online platforms. Most significantly, I spent two seasons covering the nationally ranked Boston University men’s hockey team between 2014 and 2016 for BU’s independent student newspaper, The Daily Free Press, recipient of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Mark of Excellence award for Best All-Around Non-Daily Newspaper in the Northeast Region in 2015.

Covering every BU game over the past two years has taken me all over the Northeast and nation, in college and professional rinks everywhere from Orono to St. Paul, South Bend and, of course, my second home during college, BU’s Agganis Arena. I witnessed the record-breaking, Hobey Baker-winning season of rookie sensation Jack Eichel, told stories of comeback kids, envisioned and helped organize an arts-and-crafts project, played “20 Questions,” introduced a weekly podcast about the team and saw pure heartbreak firsthand. I assisted in coordinating credential and interview requests with team staff, maintained our popular Boston Hockey Blog website and helped promote our content on our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

But I’m more than just a writer — I was also a leader at the FreeP, with previous editorial experience in serving as the paper’s Editor-in-Chief and Sports Editor. Additionally, I served the 2015-16 academic year as the Chairman of Back Bay Publishing Company, Inc. In that role, I oversaw our Board of Directors, supervising publishing, production and all financial and business decisions. More specifically, I solved internal and external conflicts, advised editors with ethical questions, hired new editors and guided fundraising and branding efforts. In 2014, while serving as the board’s secretary, I helped oversee the paper’s digital-first transition and switch from daily to weekly print publication. I was sometimes known as the “FreeP Mom” for my rapid, calm problem-solving and devotion to everyone related to the FreeP, from editors to writers to even readers.

My constant goal is to bring a fresh, modern perspective to my work, but to use my background in traditional media to guide the highest standard of ethics and professionalism. I am an eager, forward-thinking, change-embracing individual with a knack for detail and compassion, and my approach to journalism and media has always been about people — I love to tell stories that haven’t otherwise been told and connect with readers in person or through online conversation.
